One of the most distinctive tracks from the 2006 sessions; Ride was a product
of Kelli's desire to tap into the deeper "American" spirit. Already
with the lyric "Daddy was a Devil" in her mind, she turned to
Thom and said; "play an Indian beat, Man!"
You can hear
the triple hits of Ride's signature drumbeat here on a recording from
the rehearsal room in early June. This session was the third time that
Kelli and the Band really started to jam. Tracks like Big Black Bus and
Mamma had come from the first jam sessions and took a little while to
establish their structure. Ride on the other hand, came out almost fully
formed in the room.
