With the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas and the Detroit Car Show, there have already been a number of significant announcements as regards new “toys” for 2006, with the impending Macworld, many are still hoping for the announcement of the iPhone. The concept of having one small device to handle communication, organization and music is fast becoming reality.
Information from Telephia has the US market at over 23 million music enabled phones with over 2 million of the owners having actually purchased music through their phone. Telephony and mobile communications is one area in which Europe is leading the US market; having sat and watched groups of people as they used their phones as mini “boom-boxes”, we could only marvel at the immediacy and ease of how friendships were being established and developed.
