- Well - obviously technically it’s Tuesday - but this is for our Hawaiian readers……..
Been a very long day but a very good one again. Wonderful rehearsal with the focus on:
Big Black Bus
The Preacher’s Daughter
Ride
Empty Eyes
What Do You Want
Recording next week now - can’t wait.
Rob reminded me today to blog on what a Band is - I think I’ll leave that to posterity. A quick glance at what Ray Kurzweil has to say about Music, and suddenly the idea of trying to represent who and what a bunch of people who get together to create it are….well, it just doesn’t bear thinking about.
Playing music makes make you do the most bizarre things. Anybody who knows the Kelli band (The Shadowmen….Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!) knows that such images are not bizarre at all; merely reflective of people having a thoroughly good time doing what they do!
Playing Music will make you do things you never thought you were capable of, can make you laugh uncontrollably for hours on end, yes, can make you weep too, but it is not so much about the extremes of the weeping and the laughter. Music makes you feel; music makes you know you’re alive, music asks you questions, invites you to act, is infectious, is viral, is so many things…
Kelli’s byline for the next 18 months is:
“I want you to feel good”
But it could just as well read:
“I want you to feel”
From the heartfelt darkness of Empty Eyes through to the sheer joy of What Do You Want? the music resonates with energy and emotions. What is cool about Kelli’s music is that it comes from a place where everyone is having a good time; the atmosphere is full of laughter, smiles and encouragement. It is this unbridled enthusiasm and energy that bleeds into the tracks, no matter how dark the story may be.
We hope you feel it - ’cause we do!
- Time to put the Hammer down……
- More later but…..
- It’s Monday and it’s late…..
- Last post before recording…
