We had a great day yesterday working on the concept for the video for Ride. Wednesday is traditionally a songwriting day but we wanted to turn our creative juices towards the visual spectrum rather than the written word and we made a huge breakthrough.
We’re not going to go into the details, you’ll have to wait and see the video for that - but what we were astonished with is how BAD service curently is in retail stores. We were looking for high end video phones and had questions about picture quality, file formats, conversions and memory usage. Not one person, out of four different supposed “Tech” stores could answer our questions. Every single one told us that we’d be better off going to eBay and buying online and if the sales assistant doesn’t know - then they take you over to a terminal and go to Google!!! What is the point in having these huge great buildings with staff who know nothing about the products they are supposed to be selling? And the best bit - is that they make you feel as though it is your fault that they don’t have what you want!
The best one was the store where we told the assistant what we wanted and he replied that he wouldn’t want to be asociated with anyone who was using that kind of approach! Another store where the assistant had such a scowl on his face we thought for a moment that we must have stepped in dog poop - we liked the T-mobile guy though!
To cap it all - we walked into a half empty restaurant for a late lunch and on asking for a table for two were told - No - well - maybe if you wait around a bit. We left!!
We did manage to solve our particular tech requirement, which was a great result - but the whole day was an interesting reminder of why the Internet and the online economic model is becoming more and more successful. You don’t need to go to Best Buy to get hold of Kelli’s music - they’d probably tell you that you’d be better off getting it online - and so you would!
Have a nice day Y’all.

Best Buy is the biggest joke of electronics stores, there’s a reason there aren’t many left in Texas, we are the friendly state and certainly don’t take kindly to jerks who make us feel bad about our choices. The last time I went to a Best Buy I was looking for a Garth Brooks cd, and they said they don’t carry “that kind” of music, can you believe that crap! Millions upon millions of his cd’s have been sold and they don’t carry “that kind” of music. Success must not be important for them.
