Get on the bandwagon…

It’s always interesting to see how markets develop, the emergence of the main players as they assert their dominance and technologies, closely followed by the myriad of secondary businesses tapping into the new customer base.

Digital music is still relatively new and as iTunes, Microsoft, Rhapsody, Napster, the phone companies, etc, etc slug it out, new companies are popping up all the time. Still confused by the act of “ripping” or even “side-loading”? Well, now thanks to new company Riptopia, you can use well established “Old-tech” to deliver your “High-tech”

No doubt borrowing from the amazingly successful Netflix model, you can send all your CD’s to this company and they’ll “Rip” them for you in perfect audio quality!!!! For early adopters, this of course sounds insane – why would you pay someone to convert your music when you’ve been doing it without thinking for years – however – this is all about the developing market.

As more and more Baby Boomers find out that they can get access to all the music of their youth, instantly through their computers and even better, carry it with them to a work place that encourages personal listening, it’s not going to be long before they want to transfer their CD collection. When you can just bundle up your CD’s in an envelope and have someone else do it, - that’s going to make sense to the most affluent generation in the history of the world!
