It’s amazing how fast the world moves nowadays; yesterday’s post on the arrival of a DRM crack for Windows Media Files has been quickly negated by the Geeks in Seattle as they hastily distributed a patch to retailers that use the “Playsforsure” software.
You have to ask how long this can go on for - yesterday’s analogy of the demise of the Berlin wall can be updated today to reflect the story of Hans Brinker; the little Dutch Boy.
But here’s the point - if a company is spending time and resources protecting its existing position, those resources are no longer available to further develop and grow the market - building defenses doesn’t take you forward - it ensures that you stay where you are. DRM is not the future of music - and its not the future for Kelli either.
